Do You Think Professional Lawn Care is Too Expensive?

Published on: January 21, 2019

It is a common misconception that professional lawn care is a luxury for only those with extensive disposable incomes. While it is true it is a luxury, it is not as expensive as you may think. When you consider the cost and time it takes to care for your own lawn, the expense is not unreasonable. There are quality lawn care services that offer packages that run as low as $100-$200 a month to do your lawn, depending on the size and services you want.

Cost of Doing Your Own Lawn Maintenance

So, what does it cost to care for your lawn and landscaping yourself, versus hiring a professional lawn care service? It may seem cheap, but if you look at the complete list of expenses, it may not be saving you as much as think. Here is some food for thought:

  • Equipment. Lawnmowers, weed whackers, pruning shears and other equipment all cost money to buy and maintain. A riding lawnmower can easily cost over a thousand dollars. Lawn services bring their own equipment.
  • Chemicals and supplies. On top of equipment, consider the seed, fertilizer and other supplies you buy and go through each year.
  • Fuel. Not only do you need fuel or electricity to run your equipment for maintaining your lawn, you need fuel for the trips to the home improvement store and gas station.
  • Time. How much money do you get paid to do your job? Add up the hours mowing, edging, pulling weeds and getting supplies each month and do the math on how much of your valuable time you are spending.

In the end, lawn care service can be a “luxury” that is well-worth the investment. Even if you pay a little more than you would to do it yourself, you gain more time to relax. Plus, you get the benefit of having an expert care for your lawn, often with more beautiful results. It may be time to consider treating yourself to stress-free lawn maintenance by hiring a local lawn care service.
