Front Yard Makeovers

Published on: March 14, 2013

Whether you just want a new look for your front yard or are preparing to sell and want more curb appeal, a front yard makeover might be just the ticket. Depending on how much time and money you want to spend, you can create a whole new design or just add some features to give your yard a transformation. For those on a budget or with a small time window, adding instead of replacing may be the way to go.

Just like a new haircut or outfit can give a person a new look, the addition of new features to your front yard can have the same effect. Especially if your front lawn is just that, grass from house to curb, there are many small improvements that can give it a new look. Some additions or “accessories” you can add are:

–          Fencing. A cute picket fence, shrubs or rod iron does well to add beauty without blocking the view completely.

–          Walkways. Creating a walkway with paving stones can break up the lawn and add dimension.

–          Flowerbeds. Adding flowerbeds either in ground or above throughout the yard can add color and beauty to any yard.

–          Water features. A fountain, pond or waterfall can be a new focal point for a front yard.

If you want to add a few features, many do-it-yourselfers are able to add flowerbeds or walkways on their own. However, if you want to really change up the look of your front yard, getting a consultation from a professional landscaper is advisable. They can help design a landscaping plan that will enhance your yard but also be reasonable for the size, environment and budget that you have.
