Adding Water Features to Your Yard

Published on: March 1, 2012

If you have been thinking of adding something that’s a bit different to your landscape design, then consider water features. There are many options from which you can choose when you are adding water features to your yard. A water feature that’s right for your landscape design depends on a number of things including the amount of space you have, your budget, and your taste.

Simple outdoor fountains are one of the first items that come to mind. They are usually quite easy to set up and install and you will have a number of different options when it comes to size and style.

Along the same line as a fountain, you can choose to add a waterfall to your landscape. Waterfalls are more complicated to design and install than a fountain.  For best results, talk to your landscaping professional.  They can create an attractive waterfall that will enhance the beauty and serenity of your yard.

A pond is another type of popular water feature.  Ponds are available in pre-cut shapes ready for installation or your landscaper can create a custom design for you. Some homeowners might want to add fish to the ponds, but be warned that this comes with some added work.

Fountains, ponds, waterfalls, and other water features can be combined to create a unique water feature that adds beauty and serenity to your outdoor living space. Your landscape professional can design and install a low maintenance, environmentally friendly water feature using high quality, quiet pumps and filtration systems that recycle the water.
