Great Choices for Privacy Trees

Published on: March 25, 2019

Privacy trees offer a natural option for blocking views into your yard while adding beauty and shade to your property. What makes privacy trees unique is that they tend to grow quicker than other tree varieties, some up to five feet per year, and have denser, fuller branches. Some of the best options for privacy purposes are those that have wide, low branches that create a green wall from the ground up. Here are some great choices for privacy trees that offer full screening.

Green Giant Evergreens

If you want a privacy tree that will grow to great heights and offer width, the green giant evergreen is any excellent choice. At maturity, it can reach over 50-feet in height and up to 20-feet in width at the base. These pyramid-shaped trees grow at about 2-3 feet per year, shooting up quickly to give you the privacy you desire.

Leyland Cypress

Dense and bullet-shaped, the Leyland cypress can provide a wonderful wall of green year-round. You can expect at least two-feet of growth per year under ideal conditions, reaching upward of 50-feet at maturity, with a base of 15-feet or more.

Deodar Cedars

While not as dense as the cypress and slower growing than the green giant, the deodar cedar is still a great choice for privacy. They can grow at least a foot per year and reach at least 40-feet in height with large width, up to forty-feet as well.

There are many other options for privacy trees to choose from depending on how quickly you need them to grow and the sun/shade/moisture level you can provide. Talk to your local landscaper that offers privacy tree installation to find the best choice for your needs.
